    The Woolly Hug for SupermansBigRedBottleofSpirits.

Our original thread is here. Thinking of beautiful baby Summer x

My mum and my lovely older daughter – she’s 9 now – opened it in the slowest manner imaginable just drinking it in. Tears flowed as we felt the rush of love and kindness flow from every single segment, my mum left us alone and we spread it out – it’s huge! – and discussed the pictures and patterns, the colours and styles, how it embodies Summer perfectly the whole entire beautiful amazing blanket I could kiss each and every one of you who donated, crocheted, knitted etc this amazing piece of artwork for us. Dp isn’t ready to look yet, he’s broken too badly inside right now with Sums birthday round the corner and ds god love the terror I’m not ready to let his gorgeous wee hands near it as he’s always covered in playdough/paint/lollypop stickiness – to be 2 again ?? – I adore it and I know dp will, it is a pure statement of love I’ll never forget and does my Sum proud. You are all amazing thank you xx

  • June 2013 : The Auction for Kate-Lynne’s Wish

Our Auction is now FINISHED and was won with a bid for £275. Huge thanks!

We were so very sorry to learn that back in January this year, Mitchell81’s beloved daughter Kate-Lynne had passed away, she was just twelve. Some of you may well remember Mitchell from the SN boards, her thread is here.

Much love to the whole family, we are thinking of your beautiful daughter.

Keeping her spirit alive, her family have set up the amazing charity Kate-Lynne’s Wish and we would very much like to help them. The charity’s aim is to help local families (in the Deeside, Aberdeenshire area) who have disabled children or children with additional needs who need extra help to fund equipment and things to make their lives easier. Please visit/like/share/support their page, and also have a look at their website which is here.

So this is where we come in. We are offering a rare opportunity to bid for a Woolly Hug. Kate-Lynne’s family call her their Pink Princess so it seemed fitting we should use as many shades of pink as we could find. The Hug is 110 cm by 142cm which is 43″ by 56″. It is made in our usual wools so machine washable, just dry flat or draped over something.

Perfect size for a child or a sofa. It is snuggly and made with love.

Our Kate-Lynne’s Wish Auction will run over 4 days through an event on our Facebook page MNWoollyHugs, if not on FB bids may also be made via text to our special hotline. Please PM for the number. ALL BIDS MUST BE POSTED DIRECTLY ON THE WALL OF OUR FB EVENT PAGE OR TEXTED AND WE WILL ADD THEM THERE. Please do not post bids here they will not count. We will keep this thread updated of any progress.

The auction will close at 9pm on Friday 14th June. Any late bids will not count! It may take us a few minutes after to confirm the winning bid as we will need to look at bids on the page and any by text. In the event of a tie we will contact the two concerned and give them one more chance to make a bid. In the event of a further tie, we will draw one of their names from a hat.

We know we have our fabulous Band of International Blanketeers, and we are very happy to send the Hug overseas, but bids must be made in Sterling, or we will get in a right pickle. Ideally payment will be via Paypal straight into the KLW account, we can give you their details, but we will happily talk about other ways to pay too.

So please join us, there are photos on the Facebook event page and we will post more as we go along. You will agree the money is going to a very worthwhile charity. Thank you

    Pistey and Knotty thanks

….can I just say a very heartfelt and massive thank you to everybody who contributed in any way to our amazing TeamSurvival Woolly Hug. It is a work of art and a thing of true beauty. The boys and I have been loving sitting under it and keep finding new things every time. There are a lot of ‘Wow!”s and “Looook!”s!! I will try and add a photo that I have taken of the boys sitting under it. I promise that we will treasure it always. It is a very positive thing to have come out of our difficulties and is lovely to know that so many people have thought of us during its creation.

Thank you, from all three of us.xx

    The Blanket for Daisydotandgertie

Welsh born MrD was a horticulturalist, he loved all flowers, particularly spring flowers, sweet peas and roses, he also loved spots and stripes. The link to daisydotandgertie’s original thread is here. Thinking of her beloved DH X

Thank you all so, so much.

My woolly hug arrived yesterday and I have alternated between being in floods of tears and feeling very comforted ever since.

It is the most beautiful thing – love just oozes out of every inch of it and the talent that has gone into making it is incredible. I wish I could show it to MrD – he would love it. The detail, the flowers, the Labradors and the sheep! The stripes and spots and just plain cleverness are glorious.

I wish I’d been strong enough to come on here yesterday and thank you all, but I wasn’t. I can’t articulate how much comfort this woolly thing has given me – something created by strangers who made the time to support me. I am moved beyond words and am very, very honoured to have it.

    Thank you. Daisy xx

    Cariad Anfarwol : Love Everlasting

Lemon’s original Woolly Hug thread is here

” Oh, I can’t tell you how moved I am by this amazing gift, how pretty it is, and how warm I am snuggled up under it 😀 it seems even more extraordinary now that I’m just sitting at home, in my usual everyday place on the sofa, yet I’m the astonishingly lucky owner of this wonderful present. I’m very slow at coming to terms with deeply emotional events, like this afternoon has been for me, and it takes me a time to ‘process’ things, I just don’t have any words because I was/am so thrilled and deeply moved by all your kindness.

I have shown many of my friends photos of my blanket, and they have all gasped! The universal feeling is that it is thing of true beauty, both physical and for the love woven into it. Well, last night, for the first night this year, I was warm and very cosy in my bed, and slept peacefully and deeply like a child. And, of course, I woke up and the first thing I could see were the gorgeous colours around me. I can feel the love and comfort woven into every square, I really can!” with loads of love, Lemontruffles xxx
