Crafting Guide – Team Hooker : Ideas for Patterns

For the blanket projects we use a size 4 crochet hook, and  we welcome squares that are both simple and complex. Included in the section are pattens that have been recommended.

Pattern Ideas

Many of the patterns below are sourced from Ravelry, which is the essential resource for knitters and crocheters; it’s free to register and has gazillions of free patterns to try out.  Note: these are not all for 6” squares. Many of them are for larger dishcloths and need resizing before they will be 6” in a double knit yarn.

Hearts

Hearts are often a theme for a blanket project

Angel Wings by Soupy

  • Ch 6. DC in 2nd chain from hook and the next 3 chains 3 DC in last chain.
  • Working along the other side of the chain, DC in the next 3 chains, CH1 and turn.
  •  Skip 1 stitch, DC in next 2 stitches. 2 DC in each of the next 3 stitches. DC each of the next 3 stitches. 2 DC in the last stitch.
  • Fasten off.
  • Make another but do not fasten off. Ch 1 and turn.
  • 2DC in the first stitch, DC in the next 5 stitches. 2DC in the next stitch. 1 DC in the next stitch, SS in the next 2 stitches. DC in the next 2 stitches. SS in the next stitch.
  • Join wings together by SS in the 1st stitch from round 2 and DC in the next 2 stitches
  • SS in the next 2 stitches. DC in the next stitch. 2DC in the next. DC in the next 5 stitches. 2DC in the last stitch. Fasten off and weave in all pesky ends.
