Today, we, as Woolly Hugs, return to Poland with the CCL charity to help provide a safe environment for 45 Ukraine children & their teachers as a respite from war. We follow our blankets , torch banks & battery backs – all of which will help them in times of increasing power shortages. A week that allows children to be children, to relax without being constantly on alert, to sleep knowing they won’t have to scramble to shelters in the dark. To just be children.
We will be working even more closely this year with child psychologists who will be with them because the effects of this war are devastating not only to the infrastructure & families but to children who have had to grow up too soon, had to manage so many bereavements , missed out on having an innocent childhood , and lived in a war zone for most of their formative years.
We will be blogging each day whilst staying with these kids & the amazing teachers that willingly leave their own families to help give these kids a bit of freedom. Amazing people.
