Many of us followed Aillidh’s journey, our hearts touched by this brave and beautiful little girl. She will live long in our memories. Our hearts and thoughts are with Aillidh, Expat and their family.
As part of this project, we also made a blanket for Giraffescantdance. Since Aillidh’s diagnosis, Giraffes has been a constant support and the most remarkable friend to Expat. She has walked this journey beside her and continues to do so, sadly understanding it only too well as she, like Expat, has experienced the devastating loss of a beloved daughter. Our thoughts are with her, as well as our thanks. We hope that the blankets may give whatever comfort they can to them all. The original thread is here
“Thank you ladies, I am humbled that strangers felt so inspired by my words and ramblings. You have made me cry with your love and support, but they are ‘good’ tears for once. You are all so amazing and wonderful, not to mention talented. Thank you seems inadequate but I honestly can’t think of a bigger word to use.”

My beautiful blanket arrived safely today. It’s even more gorgeous in real life than in the photos and I can’t stop staring at it and stroking it…the exquisite detail, the skill, the care, the love, the stories, that went into it. It means so much to me. And knowing that some of the women who worked on this blanket have suffered similar losses to mine only makes it all the more special. It’s such a wonderful thing that you do and I will treasure my Woolly Hug forever. I hope there is somewhere that you can post this message of thanks so that the lovely ladies who worked on it will know how grateful I am.
Much love to you

“Our blanket arrived safe and sound in Devon this afternoon. It is just stunning, I can’t believe the sheer amount of work in it, it’s beautiful!
I shared it with our two boys when they got home from school and we spent ages looking at all the squares together. The boys were so happy to see their initials and to find Merryns! I cried reading all the cards, full of such lovely words from people I have never met, but who know my little girls story.
I am now 23 weeks pregnant with a little brother for my two boys and Merryn, and I will use our blanket to tell this little one about his sister, and the love and kindness she inspired. I can’t think of a better way to explain to him about Merryn.
Thank you lovely vipers, you are amazing. Xxx”
